SPOTLIGHT PROJECT
“MAKING THE BAND”
“indk is an American heavy metal group formed in Decatur, Illinois in 1999. Focused on industrial sounds, the band has made waves for their aggressive and driving riffs, as well as their onstage theatrics. Having released multiple award-winning albums, the group have firmly cemented themselves in heavy metal history.”
The goal of this project was to create a band from scratch, designing everything from their cover art, to merch, to their backstory. Using images of 5 band members generated using Midjourney AI, I was able to create legitimacy for a band that never really existed. This project sought to combine all of the relevant design practices used in the music industry in furtherance of a band’s success and image.
PUBLICATION
For this project, I strove to emulate David Carson’s signature design style. I designed spreads of a magazine to emulate the designer’s work on Ray Gun magazine, a pivotal magazine for fashion, design, music, and pop culture.
DIGITAL POSTERS
The goal of this series of works is to illustrate my struggle with anxiety through the lens of different designers. The specific artists chosen were determined by how their artistic style evokes different symptoms or aspects of my anxiety story. I began this series by imitating specific works by these artists and reappropriating them to tell my story. I wanted the works to speak for themselves and communicate the idea visually, while also acting as a tribute to some of the artists that have inspired me most.

TYPOGRAPHY
This project was meant to display the lyrics of Funkadelic's 1974 song "Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts." Each spread represents the images that the lyrics portrayed in my mind.
Today Only!
Today Only is a sans-serif typeface inspired by the iconic hand-painted signs of Chicago’s grocery stores. The two fonts, aptly titled thin + thick, serve as body and display text (respectively) for the purpose of adding varying weights to signage and adding a stylistic flair to any project.

Dydaw is a y2k-inspired display typeface comprised of only lowercase letters. Dydaw is italicized 20 degrees in reference to the designs of the era, as well as adding a stylistic flair to any piece. Utilizing similar glyph styles for each letter, dydaw provides a smooth and groovy type.

BRANDING

This project consisted of a fictional sexual health and education brand, LovEd. I designed a speculative identity that outlines the brand's message.

This wine label was designed to coincide with the wine’s name and the concept of evolution.
